for general under the car stuff, I put the ramps in the front and the jackstands in the rear... gives you a lot more room to work. I also put the ramp on the non entrance side normal and the one on the side where I'll be rolling under backward (ramp on the front side of the wheel). not sure what all the talk is about removing the transmission... I rarely do when I pull engines or do clutches, just lower it and pull it back a little to get it clear of the engine block. There's plenty of room in the tunnel to shove it back once it's lowered 6 inches or so on a tranny jack.
